Job Summary
This position is a lead role responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining a steam cycle chemistry program for the Vistra generation fleet. The Engineer will be responsible for establishing and maintaining fleet standards and for providing technical guidance/oversight to plant teams regarding steam cycle chemistry. The program standard sets operating targets for all boiler/HRSG configurations in the fleet as well a means for assessing target adherence.The role requires effective coordination with all work groups and levels of management.

Job Description
Key Accountabilities
Develop, coordinate, and maintain Cycle Chemistry Optimization Program for the generation fleet, which includes standardized monitoring strategy against target thresholds, associated alarm level response plans, and KPI/metrics for performance tracking and reporting.
Conduct steam cycle component inspections at power generation sites for indication of asset health and to assess steam cycle chemistry performance impacts (FAC, irregular wear patterns, deposits, etc.).
Apply cycle chemistry theory and principles to optimize chemistry practices with consideration for makeup water quality & treatment equipment, treatment regime, steam cycle configuration, boiler/HRSG operating profile, and known unit issues/history. Provide management with cost effective options for resolving operation and maintenance issues.
Coordinate with in-house engineering, equipment specialists and operation's site staff to ensure consistent, practical, and effective technical solutions.
Identify plant maintenance and operational problems utilizing an understanding of plant equipment.
Expect approximately 50 percent travel.
Education, Experience & Skill Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or related engineering degree
8-10 years of power plant related or equivalent industry experience that promotes development in the areas described.
Thorough understanding of steam cycle chemistry treatment regimes and how parameters interrelate in maintaining associated component reliability.
Design, repair, and/or maintenance practices for boilers and other power plant equipment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and leadership skills are required.
Active in Industry (Program Owner/EPRI Program Advisor/Owners Groups) (Program Expert)
Preferred - Registered PE in at least one state with Luminant generation assets.
Key Metrics:
Technical issues are resolved in a manner consistent with the operational profile of the asset.
Delivered cost savings through the use of optimal cycle chemistry regimes and treatment approaches
Extension of cycle chemistry technical capabilities through fleet staff, particularly those that interact closely with and maintain plant cycle chemistry
Effective cycle chemistry program documentation, budgetary requirements, and program sustainability.
