We are seeking a visionary senior technical leader to guide engineering teams in designing, building, and operating cutting-edge multi-platform applications and services.

YOUR MISSION

As the Senior Director of Engineering, you will define the technical vision and lead a dynamic team of engineers, including technical leads and architects, to advance one of the world's premier online game platforms. In collaboration with product management, you will prioritize impactful features and oversee the development of high-performing web, PC, and mobile applications supported by a high-uptime global server network.

You will empower engineering leaders to achieve their goals by aligning teams, clearing obstacles, and enhancing customer experiences across our product portfolio. With proven expertise in scaling organizations and fostering growth within large teams, you will drive technical progress and implement successful strategies with passion and collaboration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Champion the player experience through evaluation and improvement of our applications, services, technologies, and tools.
• Source new technology solutions to modernize our technology stack and infrastructure. Identify technology trends and evolving social behavior that may support or impede the success of the business.
• Lead company-wide initiatives so that products are developed on schedule with maximum quality standards and cost objectives that meet market demands.
• Work closely with the Battle.net organization to refine existing product roadmap processes to improve scalability and develop new enhancements to increase release velocity and time to market.
• Ensure the right processes, analysis, and procedures surround both the selection and operation of enterprise infrastructure systems. Responsible for the reliable live operation of a global gaming and commerce platform serving millions of active players concurrently.
• Internally facing, you are accountable for creating a modern engineering culture that promotes creativity, collaboration, accessibility, and sharing across Battle.net. You will lead the group's technical staff to follow engineering development best practices and coach technical leaders, helping to identify and mitigate risks, and drive technical strategic direction across the portfolio of projects in development.
• Foster a culture of effective cross-team communication and inclusion, ensuring collaboration with diverse and differently-abled colleagues.
• Partner with HR and Recruiting to mentor, coach, develop, and grow extraordinary talent that contributes to our evolving needs and ensures our teams, and their leaders, remain highly engaged and empowered.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

• Report to VP, Engineering, Battle.net & Online Products as a member of the group leadership team.
• All player experience-focused technology, systems, and services teams will report to this leader, approximate team size of 100+ engineers.

REQUIREMENTS

• MS/BS in computer science, engineering, or related major or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, with proven experience managing multiple development teams, preferably including time within the gaming / entertainment platform industry.
• Relentless drive for quality, service, and creating amazing player experiences.
• Knowledgeable with multiple software development methodologies, technical stacks, platform targets, product areas, and full-stack development.
• Demonstrated ability to envision and architect large-scale technology solutions that meet customer needs or solve business problems.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $206,000.00 - $381,004.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role's range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
