Biorepository Associate I - Biorepository Services (Finance)

Summary:

The BRS Associate I is responsible for sample management activities around specimen storage, retrieval, shipment, and destruction. The BRS Associate I will work closely with the Investigator Support Services (ISS) and Sample Processing Services (SPS) staff for sample management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Specimen storage at all temperatures
• Preparation of specimen shipments
• Identification and escalation of sample discrepancies
• Client (internal and external) communications
• Biorepository housekeeping tasks including, but not limited to, freezer maintenance, alarm testing, maintenance of supplies, and end-of-day activities
• Attend BRS trainings/meetings
• Other duties as required by management

Education/Experience and Skills Required:

• High School Diploma (or GED) required.
• Training and education in clinical laboratory sciences is preferred and working in a complex office operation is preferred
• Microsoft Office applications including MS Word and Excel required

Hours and Schedule:

• In office, Tuesday - Saturday, 9:30am - 6pm
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
• Must manage biological samples
• Dry ice handling, LN2 and CO2 present in the workplace, UV rays present
