Business Development Manager, Bioscience - California Based (Biotech)

We are looking for professionals to grow with us and we have a great opportunity in our Bioscience Cell and Drug Discovery Business Development (BD) group. The BD Manager will be responsible for increasing sales by actively selling products and services to assigned Cell and Drug Discovery customers in a designated territory. This person will own the full sales cycle with their accounts while working with internal stakeholders (FAS, SST, SMEs, Product Managers, Sales Managers) as needed. The BD Manager will work in close conjunction with both the CDMO C> and the Personalized Medicine Commercial Organizations, as needed. T
Key responsibilities:
Sell, support, and grow the Bioscience Cell and Drug Discovery portfolio including but not limited to the Nucleofection, Primary Cells, Media, Molecular Biology, and Services while maintaining Lonza's value proposition to customers
Accurately forecast sales, identify upsides and risks, and meet sales targets on a monthly through yearly basis
Identify, develop, and secure current and new customers through virtual and face-to-face meetings, E-mails, phone calls, and social media tools
Continuously develop an advanced knowledge of the drug discovery pipeline (preclinical and clinical), Lonza's product and service capabilities, and relevant applications
Record activities, maintain client information, and perform routine funnel management in Sales Force
Working closely with product support specialists, customer service, marketing, scientific support, and other departments to meet customer expectations and needs
Perform other duties as assigned
Location Requirement: Ideal candidates should be based in either San Francisco or San Diego
Key requirements:
Demonstrated success in complex sales and business development over 3-5 years, with a proven track record. Experience with consumables, capital equipment, and/or services within the Life Sciences industry is preferred.
Hunter-prospector mentality
Communicate with customers and leads to identify and understand their application, product, and service needs while ensuring customer satisfaction
Knowledge of cell biology, microbiology, molecular biology, and/or biochemistry preferred
Strong core selling skills including prospecting, relationship-building, creating customer value, consultative selling, technical selling, and effective sales presentations
Experience with strategic territory management skills
Knowledge and experience in the disciplines of drug discovery and pre-clinical and clinical development
Established relationships with decision makers in academia, biotech, and pharma companies a plus
Strong interpersonal skills; creative, adaptable, ambitious, self-motivated, exceptional communicator, and collaborator
Ability to travel overnight up to 30%

The full-time base annual salary for this remote position is expected to range between $108,000 - $126,000. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the location of the successful candidate, qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and job-related knowledge.
