The Marilyn Davies College of Business at the University of Houston-Downtown (MDCOB - UHD) seeks candidates for a Lecturer (masters level) position in the Department of Accounting & International Business. This is a full-time, 36 week, non-tenure line, limited-term, one-year appointment to begin September 2025 with excellent potential for re-appointment. UHD is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). MDCOB - UHD enrolls approximately 2,500 undergraduate and more than 1,100 graduate students and employs 18 full-time accounting faculty members. The home campus for this position is the Downtown Houston campus, but it may comprise teaching assignments on UHD's Northeast and Northwest campuses.

Position Description:
Lecturers in this position will teach courses each semester using traditional, hybrid, and online delivery methods. Teaching assignments will include introductory courses in accounting and potentially upper-level undergraduate and graduate accounting courses. Teaching assignments may require teaching courses scheduled during the daytime, evening, and weekend hours in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats. Lecturers in this position will engage in activities to stay current in the discipline; participate in course, curriculum, and program development; advise students and provide career guidance; and participate in campus, university, and community service activities.
Candidate must demonstrate evidence of, or potential for, high-quality teaching. The position is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track appointment beginning September 1, 2025, which requires teaching undergraduate and graduate accounting courses.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in accounting or MBA with a concentration in accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution
Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment
Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching
This position requires the successful completion of standard background checks in accordance with University policy
All areas in accounting are considered
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in practicing pedagogical best practice initiatives and instructional excellence in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses in face-to-face, hybrid, fully online, and flipped classroom delivery models
Experience in teaching graduate courses or teaching in the areas of internal audit, audit, taxation, accounting data analytics, or Government accounting
Demonstrated commitment to participate in business, industry, and student activities
Maintaining professional accounting certifications/licenses such as CPA, CMA, and CIA
Industry or Government experience in accounting as an executive. A DBA or Ph.D. in accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution
