POSITION SUMMARY:
The College of AI, Cybersecurity, and Computing (CAICC) at USF is seeking a Student Success Coach / Advisor (Academic Advisor II level) to support upper-level undergraduate students in achieving academic and professional success. As an Upper-Level Success Coach, you will provide academic advising, career coaching, and mentorship to help students stay on track for graduation and prepare for their future careers. You will be part of a collaborative advising team, working alongside multiple professional advisors and a lower-level success coach. Your responsibilities include guiding students through course selection, degree planning, and specialization choices, as well as offering career development support through resume reviews, technical interview preparation, and networking opportunities. Additionally, you will identify at-risk students, implement retention strategies, and develop workshops as needed. You will also foster connections with industry and research opportunities, helping students launch careers in tech or pursue graduate studies. This role demands strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of the tech industry and job market, and a passion for helping students overcome academic and professional challenges
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identify upper-level CAICC undergraduate students requiring intervention through advising records and class performance data. Conduct group and individual coaching sessions to support their academic success. Work to identify and address barriers hindering their progress. The ultimate goal is to ensure all students graduate within four years.
Support upper-level CAICC undergraduate students in identifying and pursuing their career goals. Assist with job searches by helping students find employment opportunities and providing guidance on resume writing and interview preparation. This role may also involve, in coordination with other staff and units on campus, organizing on-campus events with companies and government agencies to connect students with potential employers. The ultimate goal is to ensure all students secure degree-related employment in a company or government agency, or gain acceptance to graduate school, by the time they graduate. May also assistant and support graduate students in some of these areas
Provide individual and group advising to CAICC undergraduate students, particularly during peak advising periods. Offer guidance on academic requirements, course selection, policies, procedures, and available campus resources. Utilize USF information systems (such as Banner, OASIS, and DegreeWorks) to deliver effective advising services and maintain confidential student records. Support new student enrollment by participating in Orientation and other college and university activities with other advisors. Support graduation check-out procedures with other advisors

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling or academic field directly related to the Advisor's specific responsibilities with two years of experience in advising or related academic functions within higher education. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this position.
PREFERRED:
Preferred is a Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or academic field directly related to the Advisor's specific responsibilities plus a track record of positively impacting student success in a post-secondary institution. At least two years familiarity with computing (or tech) directly related to the Advisor's specific responsibilities with two years of experience in advising or related academic functions within higher education including working with students in career planning and job search
