As a key representative of the station's digital platforms, you'll be instrumental in growing our audience across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and beyond. Your creatively crafted stories and engaging vertical videos will first be showcased on our digital channels before airing on daily newscasts. The ideal candidate will be a passionate journalist who actively seeks, researches, and pitches compelling stories daily. You'll be responsible for enterprising original journalism, capturing video content and interviews, verifying facts, and using your creativity to ensure your work stands out. WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Experienced contributor responsible for a significant coverage area
Ability to enterprise original journalism
Deliver complex assignments with minimal direction
Ability to use news cameras, iPhone, DJT, and other devices to capture video.
Demonstrate an in-depth working knowledge of the theories and applications of professional journalism.
Demonstrate effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of libel laws as well as state and federal laws regarding open meetings, open records, and access to information, sufficient to direct quality editorial coverage and make legally-sound decisions on publication of content
Versed in the fundamentals of news reporting, including issues involving privacy, libel, access, and ethics. Exhibits high standards of accuracy and fairness
Outstanding editing and writing skills; demonstrate attention to detail in both video and word editing.
Strong working knowledge of Associated Press style
Able to use digital, video, mapping, social networking, and other technology to bolster news reports
Self-starter capable of demonstrating outstanding news judgment with minimal supervision
Demonstrate skills in time management and setting priorities
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), web publishing tools, and HTML.
Understanding of how to interact with audiences across platforms and to formulate multi-platform strategies that drive new audiences and maximize existing audiences
Openness and capacity to seek new opportunities and adopt new ways of doing things
Strong communication skills
Ability to function as a team player
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company's required insurance limits
