We are seeking a Senior Engineering Lead Energy to join our team in our Oak Ridge, TN office.

How will you contribute to the team?
Supervises a multi-disciplined team of engineers performing a variety of engineering tasks on a variety of projects.
Ensures availability of resources to projects and that engineers are suitably qualified, experienced and trained for these duties. Responsible for interviewing, selection, mentoring, developing and where necessary, disciplining staff.
Responsible for advocating improvement of production systems including renovation with current technologies, upgrades to improve reliability, and adoption of automation methods where suited.
Performs oversight of multiple wastewater treatment processes and assigns technical resources to provide assistance as necessary to support continuous and safe facility operation.
Responsible for managing and ensuring compliance with various Engineering programs falling under the responsibility of the Facility Engineering Department (Measuring & Test Equipment, Preventative Maintenance Program, Process Configuration Control, Tank/Vessel/Equip Inspection Programs, Software Quality Assurance, Quality Level Assignment, process and project Risk Assessments).
Champions development and implementation of new waste treatment operations/processes as needed to meet Client requests to provide expanded waste treatment services.
Interviews and recommends selection of engineering candidates.
Mentors, develops training plans, performs appraisals, recommends staff progression and where necessary, disciplines staff.
Selects and assigns suitably qualified, experienced and trained engineers to projects, processes and field support activities.
Acts as the lead engineer on projects supervising one or more engineers.
May develop expertise in specific specializations such as expertise in specific national codes and standards or specific types of analyses or use of specialized software.
Interfaces with Project Manager and Client and successfully delivers engineering solutions in accordance with customer specifications and requirements.
Leads development and ensures compliance with engineering policies and procedures.
Performs personnel training as necessary for new/revised procedures and/or process modifications.
Directs preparation and revision of technical documents supporting the project, including production Standard Operating Procedures, engineering specifications, reports, analyses, feasibility investigations, and recommendations.
Manages the Measuring and Testing Equipment calibration and maintenance program, ensuring routine calibrations are performed on schedule and that quality requirements are maintained.
Oversees the Preventative Maintenance and Inspection (PMI) program, ensuring that PMI activities are identified and scheduled as needed, and that PMI criteria are provided for maintenance and engineering staff.
Oversees the Configuration Change program, ensuring that process modifications are identified, approved, documented, tracked, and completed per site procedures.
Responsible for Tank/Vessel/Equipment Inspection Programs, developing inspection technical requirements and overseeing subcontractor or project personnel performing the work.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Software Quality Assurance program, monitoring project equipment using specialized software and ensuring software modification is managed only in accordance with program requirements.
Responsible for performing/managing Quality Level determinations for items and services procured by the project.
Responsible for performing risk and hazard assessments of ongoing and proposed activities to identify and mitigate project risks.
Interfaces with Quality Assurance and Procurement personnel and approves purchase requisitions to ensure project procurement quality requirements are identified and incorporated into procurement documents.
Monitors production operations to identify equipment maintenance issues and supports investigation and necessary repairs or replacements.
Manages facility upgrades by guiding feasibility investigations, solution identification, development of specifications and SOWs, contractor selection, work oversight, and commissioning activities
Champions development and implementation of new radioactive waste treatment strategies by assessing and selecting proposed alternatives, interfacing with Stakeholders (project operations management and numerous Client representatives) to obtain necessary approvals and funding, ensuring treatment strategies comply with regulatory requirements for radioactive mixed waste treatment and storage, overseeing equipment installation and commissioning, SOP development and personnel training, and process commissioning.
Performs laboratory investigations for development, testing, and implementing chemical/radiological waste treatment methods.
Manages subcontractors performing site work activities including, equipment inspections and mechanical and electrical equipment installation.
Performs equipment/system troubleshooting, solution identification, and supports repair/replacement.
Performs/reviews engineering assessments and calculations used to quantify chemical/radiological content in process waste streams.
Monitors site processes utilizing operating software requiring control by the project Software QA program, ensuring that any necessary software modifications follow site program controls.
Performs routine entry into radiological material storage areas and radiologically contaminated areas, wearing all required PPE (respiratory protection equipment occasionally required).
Performs other duties as assigned.
What will you contribute?
Bachelor's degree required in Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program.
Professional Engineering (PE) registration preferred.
Minimum of 10 years' experience providing technical and management support in a chemical or nuclear industry.
Minimum 5 years' experience maintaining, installing, and repairing equipment in a chemical industry.
Experience managing RCRA permitted facility and maintaining a DOE/NNSA facility within prescribed facility safety envelope.
Knowledge and experience in managing personnel in various disciplines.
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate.
Past performance related to proposed position.
Ability to Obtain USDOE Security Clearance.
Previous leadership experience.
Demonstrated technical skills and personnel management abilities.
Demonstrated experience supporting operation of chemical or wastewater production/treatment processes.
Demonstrated ability to conceive, design, develop and implement new operations and processes.
Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors.
Must be viewed by Client and Project Manager as an expert in Facility/Maintenance engineering.
Must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to critically review work produced by the engineering team, provide technical guidance, feedback, and mentorship.
Demonstrated experience overseeing an engineering team to ensure their compliance with site policies and programs (Safety, Security, Quality, and Operations).
Must be a self-starter who can work in a team environment with minimal direction and supervision.
Demonstrated ability applying experience and judgment with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
Demonstrated experience with facility ventilation systems and HEPA filtration systems desired.
Must be a U.S citizen in order to be considered.
