Summary/Objective Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and perform minor construction on University property. Works collaboratively with all University units to provide an aesthetically pleasing, comfortable, and safe environment for students, faculty, and staff. Essential Job Duties Repairs, maintains, installs, troubleshoots, and replaces building components not limited to walls, chairs, tables, floors, roofs, furniture, ceilings, blinds, windows, insulation, shelving, plumbing fixtures, piping, appliances, minor electrical maintenance, minor HVAC maintenance, painting and preventative maintenance items.Works in cooperation with outside vendors as needed.Maintains and coordinates the completion of general maintenance related work order requests from students, faculty, and staff by utilizing the electronic work order management system. Communicate with persons of various backgrounds professionally and in a courteous manner. Attends professional development seminars and/or classes periodically that pertain to the area of responsibilities (including essential functions) of this position. Assists other physical plant trades when directed.Regular attendance and punctuality.Sets an example of a Christian lifestyle for students, staff and faculty. Position Requirements Required High school diploma or GED and one year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Availability on an on-call basis for emergencies after hours. Must possess a valid drivers license. Preferred Bachelors Degree in an appropriate, related discipline. Professional certifications related to the construction or carpentry trade. Work Environment Ability to work in various environments including outdoor environments with adverse weather conditions construction/renovation sites, and typical office environments. Regularly exposed to electrical voltage, chemicals, dust, odors, oil, fumes, vibration, and noise. May be required to work on and/or around slippery surfaces both indoors and out. Subject to working near machinery, power tools, and vehicles in motion. On occasion, may be exposed to confined spaces, required to climb onto rooftops, and to access other related physical plant areas. Physical Abilities Regularly required to sit, walk, talk and hear. Visual ability needed to read architect plans, equipment diagrams and inspect parts. Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull a variety of tools, equipment, and materials up to 80lbs. Must be able to traverse steps multiple times a day. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and get in and out of the vehicle frequently during each work day.
