Prudential International Insurance (PII) develops, distributes, and services individual life insurance, retirement, and related financial security products through our subsidiaries in Japan, Brazil, and Mexico. The Director of Business Development and Strategy for Emerging Markets will play a critical role in advancing business development initiatives and driving market intelligence efforts across Prudential's Emerging Markets (EM) portfolio. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Business Development and Strategy, this role will focus on identifying, evaluating, and executing opportunities that drive growth, profitability, and scalability, while establishing Prudential as a market leader in the insurance, pensions, and investments industries.
The current employee work arrangement for this position is hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.
What you can expect:
This role will focus primarily on two core areas of responsibility:
1. Business Development: Partner with Corporate Development, Strategy, and other internal and external stakeholders to build and manage a robust pipeline of M&A and inorganic growth opportunities across the EM portfolio.
2. Market Intelligence: Establish and lead a systematic process for gathering competitive insights across EM markets, including Latin America, Asia, and beyond, to inform strategic decision-making and enhance Prudential's competitive positioning.
This role will support regional initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional and country-level teams as needed, but the primary focus will remain on business development and market intelligence efforts that enable regional growth and strategic priorities.
Business Development:
Develop and maintain a pipeline of M&A and other inorganic opportunities across EM markets, aligned with the region's strategic investment plan.
Collaborate with M&A teams and functional leads to evaluate strategic fit, drive due diligence, and advance deals to completion.
Support the operational integration of acquisitions and investments to ensure alignment with Prudential's strategic priorities.
Identify growth opportunities through ecosystems, digital platforms, and emerging technology solutions in key markets.
Market Intelligence:
Establish a process to gather, analyze, and share competitive insights across the EM region, covering trends, competitors, and market dynamics.
Develop and deliver regular market intelligence reports to inform leadership on opportunities, risks, and competitive positioning.
Build strong relationships with local market teams and external partners to enhance the flow of insights.
Partner with regional and global stakeholders to identify market trends and benchmark best practices across EM.
Additional Responsibilities, as needed:
Support cross-functional and cross-country regional projects.
Provide direct support to the Regional President and Vice President of Business Development and Strategy on strategic initiatives.
Collaborate with country CEOs and regional leadership to align on key business priorities.
What you'll need:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Economics, or a related field required.
5–7 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, or corporate development, preferably with a focus on the insurance, retirement, or emerging markets industries.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is non-negotiable, with proven ability to create detailed financial models and high-impact presentations.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to generate insights and communicate them effectively to senior leadership.
Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive, initiative-driven approach.
Proficiency in project management, prioritization, and time management in a dynamic environment.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner across all organizational levels.
Minimal travel required.
It'd be a plus if you had:
MBA, CFA, and/or CPA strongly preferred.
Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is preferred.
