ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

Center for Career & Professional Development (CCPD), reporting to the Division of Student Success, is the university's centralized career planning and employment assistance service for USF students and alumni. The programs in the CCPD are designed to help students and graduates assess, explore, develop, and implement their career goals, gain employability skills and career-related experiences, prepare for a successful transition into graduate/professional school or the labor market, and connect with employers to obtain part-time jobs, internships, cooperative education, and professional employment. The CCPD holds the values of community, excellence, integrity, service, and well-being at the core of all they do.

There are 23 departments and 12 centers and institutes within the College of Arts and Sciences. These areas comprise approximately 700+ faculty members and 200 staff plus many OPS and student employees.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The ideal candidate will report directly to the Assistant Director of Experiential Learning Programs, this role works closely with the Strategic Initiatives team, Center for Career & Professional Development team, faculty/staff in the College of Arts and Sciences, and strategic partners to:

• This position coordinates, manages, and implements Experiential Learning initiatives outlined in the specific grant agreements.
• Assists students with the application process and may work with faculty or employers to select students to interview for structured internship programs.
• Assists students in preparing for experiential opportunities (e.g., CPT eligibility, etc.); provides student/faculty support for experiential learning High-Impact Practices (e.g., Badging program, ePortfolio, etc.)
• Collects, analyzes, and maintains program statistics and prepares reports.
• May facilitate 1-2 distance learning internship/co-op courses per semester to award credit for experience including building courses, grading, and delivering feedback to students.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledge of student and development theories, implementation of high-impact educational practices, educational best practices, client record management, and job search techniques
• Experience in student and employer coaching, student and employer programming, and/or experience in a career center of a college/university or working with students in a higher education setting, or relevant role interfacing with students and employers.
• Knowledge of labor market trends, and state/federal labor laws related to the recruitment and hiring process
• Knowledge of relationship management with diverse stakeholders
• Proficiency in standard office applications/software, and the demonstrated ability to utilize computer applications and databases, manage data, spreadsheets, and documents, and create reports for the execution of work responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This position coordinates, manages, and implements Experiential Learning initiatives outlined in specific grant agreements. Assists students with the application process and may work with faculty or employers to select students to interview for structured internship programs. Maintain effective processes and data systems in support of programming; assist with the leadership of experiential learning events and activities; Provide backup support for HIP course review as part of GenEd Council course approval process.

• Assist students in preparing for experiential opportunities (e.g., CPT eligibility, workshops, training, etc.); provide/develop student/faculty information, resources, and support for experiential learning High-Impact Practices (e.g., badging program, ePortfolio, Engaged Student Employment, etc.); support/guide campus and community constituents and employers in accessing or navigating experiential learning programming and resources

• Partner with the College of Arts and Sciences and offices to aid student access to experiential learning programs, events, and activities; assist departments in scheduling CCPD-provided workshops and programs and expand implementation of experiential learning opportunities.

• Assist in the recruitment and selection process for funded internship programs. Follows established processes for disbursement of funds for students.

• Deliver effective and engaging presentations and workshops to faculty/staff, students, and the community on career readiness topics. Audiences may be students, faculty, academic advisors, or outside community members. Professional presentations at local, state, regional, and national conferences are strongly supported and encouraged. Keep accurate data and records on students served, presentations, and other career events. Maintaining confidentiality in keeping with the FERPA and Student Affairs professional standards is a requirement.

• Support the overall success of CCPD as indicated or needed. Serves on or leads various committees/workgroups/etc. on a team, department, division, or campus-wide level as indicated. Represents CS in meetings on- or off-campus, and at professional conferences/meetings as needed. Assists with CS events and activities, and performs other duties as requested

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree, with at least one year of experience in a student affairs or student personnel position; or a Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or Sports Recreation Administration. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor degree requirement for this position.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:

4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or a related field.
