Senior Tax Analyst (Project Management)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Sr. Tax Analyst is responsible for the accounting, reporting, administration, preparation, timely filing, and payment of sales and use, income, and other required tax returns.
The Sr. Tax Analyst is responsible for accurate accounting, reporting and administration of equity and membership management. This includes equity reconciliations, manages member on-boarding and terminations, calculates patronage and share balances inclusive of reversion and unclaimed property, data governance, and maintains Frontiers by-laws and standard work documents.
ACTIVITIES INVOVLED
Primary owner of income, sales, excise and use tax compliance to meet filing guidelines and deadlines. Gathers applicable information from the business to support tax calculations, including R&D tax credit, and reviews data for completeness and accuracy. Provide quarterly income tax estimates. Establishes and implements a use tax process. Research tax laws, grants, and tax credits to provide recommendations on current capital projects, business initiatives, and identify opportunities for tax savings. Identify, devise, plan and execute tax strategies, research potential tax issues, and analyze business impact of tax provisions and tax law changes. Maintains tax compliance calendar Prepare and review tax and equity related journal entries in support of a month end period close Manages escheatment process with the states through Company software Provide accurate accounting, reporting and administration of equity and membership Perform account reconciliations and roll forwards of relevant accounts Research, prepare, and correspond to federal, state, or local government examinations, notices, and audits Support activities that lead to an unqualified audit opinion for the Companys annual external audit Support capitalized fixed assets and depreciation process Manage sales tax compliance initiatives, including external tax software relationship for sales tax Manage tax certification exemptions Manage excise tax compliance Work with internal departments and external resources to improve efficiency. Participate in various special projects as assigned. Always works safely, follows safety rules and policies and participates in scheduled training. Strives to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible, and re-use resources when practical. Reports injuries and near misses promptly and in required detailed format; proposes corrective action. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data and reconcile complex accounts.
Knowledge of GAAP accounting processes
Experience using an ERP or mainframe accounting systems.
Experience using Microsoft software, proficiency at intermediate to advanced Excel.
Self-starter with strong sense of urgency and limited day-to-day direction.
Ability to multi-task, remain organized and prioritize work while meeting deadlines.
Attentive to detail and accuracy. Ability to problem solve and apply judgment.
Team player, willing to periodically perform additional functions and/or work longer hours during certain times during the year.
Familiarity with debits/credit, statements of equity, balance sheet reconciliations, and understand the concept of chart of accounts, GL structure and cost centers.
Intermediate knowledge of income, sales, and use tax regulations
Actively manages professional relationships internally and externally to ensure mutual respect and cooperation
Perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors Degree (B.A.) in accounting or a related field; 3-5 years of accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred experience in moderately complex manufacturing environment. Preferred experience in cooperative structure. Preferred CPA, but not required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, correspondence, reports and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with a variety of people and respond to basic questions in situations where common courtesy and tact are needed.
