An IC&E Engineer is responsible for instrumentation, controls, and electrical system design for boiler and environmental projects, including new build and retrofit contracts and proposals. As a discipline lead on projects, the individual must be able to work within a team to ensure success of a project. The individual will be frequently involved with communications between internal and external customers, internal departments, engineering firms, and suppliers. The individual must be able to technically lead projects of varying size and complexity across B&W's full suite of product lines.
Responsibilities Include -
Develop instrumentation deliverables such as datasheets, location drawings, and installation details.
Develop controls deliverables such as control narratives, functional logic diagrams, cause & effect diagrams, and control panels including bill of material.
Use database tools to manipulate data to generate I/O, Instrument, Alarm, and Electrical Load Lists.
Develop bid specifications for instrumentation, control systems, electrical equipment, and sublet engineering services, and evaluate vendor technical quotes for specification compliance including preparation of technical bid evaluations.
Assist in the development of Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Assume Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsibilities to develop in depth technical knowledge.
Travel to support customer meetings, HAZOPs, start-up activities, and factory acceptance tests, which includes both domestic and international travel.
Performs moderate design tasks.
Prepare portions of project drawings and/or documents.
Edit and develop technical specifications.
Perform research and investigations.
Assign tasks to and coordinate work with entry-level engineers.
Assist in determining schedule and budget requirements.
Assist in developing Operating Instructions within their discipline.
Assist in start-up and site support within their discipline.
Perform technical training to internal and external customers.
Assume discipline lead on small routine projects.
Collaboratively use judgment to determine adaptations in methods for nonroutine aspects of assignments.
Assist Project Management/Project Engineering with interactions with external customers, A/Es, vendors, and/or sublet engineers within their area of expertise or specific assignments.
Leads interaction with internal customers for their assigned projects
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 5 years experience in a related field
Experience with codes and standards such as ISA, NFPA, IEEE, NEMA, and IEC is preferred.
Experience with AVEVA Electrical and Instrumentation is a plus.
Possess effective oral and written communication skills
Must be able to work both independently and in a group
Must be comfortable communicating with both internal and external clients on behalf of B&W
