Custodian (Finance)
The Custodian will be responsible for a variety of interior and exterior building maintenance tasks. Key duties include cleaning restrooms, performing floor care (sweeping, mopping, waxing, and vacuuming), and maintaining windows, walls, and fixtures. Additional responsibilities include emptying waste receptacles, replacing light bulbs, and dusting and polishing surfaces to ensure a clean and well-maintained environment. The Custodian will perform all duties under general supervision.
Ideal candidates who possess prior professional experience in providing building maintenance services for various environments are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a background in providing building maintenance services for office buildings, hospitals, or clinics highly encouraged.
Work Schedule:
The work schedule for this position is as follows: Monday - Friday, 5:00 pm to 1:30 am.
Meet the Team!
Riverside County Department of Facilities Management provides property management and operations services for county owned and leased facilities throughout the 7,200 square miles of Riverside County and over 14 million square feet of space. The department is responsible for keeping county buildings safe, comfortable and productive for both county staff and the public.• Sweep, dust, strip, seal, wet mop, wax, spot clean, scrub, and polish floors; vacuum and shampoo rugs (candidate will be required to operate cleaning mechanisms like vacuum cleaners and buffers).
• Wash windows, walls, and restrooms; empty and clean ash trays, waste receptacles, kick buckets, and take trash to disposal area.
• Clean light fixtures; replace light bulbs and fluorescent tubes; dust and polish woodwork, desks, shelves, bright work, and tables.
• Clean restrooms and replenish toilet paper and soap.
• Collect and remove trash and recycling.
• May move furniture or equipment; mix disinfectant solutions; burn trash and clean incinerators.
• Observe, check, and report unauthorized personnel in and around buildings.
• May drive light truck to collect trash; may secure building and area after cleanup; may relieve security guard.Ability to: Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; learn the methods of cleaning and caring for buildings and equipment; understand and follow oral and written directions; work cooperatively with others.
Background: Sheriff Level 1 Clearance is required.Other Requirements:
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License is required. The Custodian will be required to travel to various job assignments.
Physical Ability and Physical Exposure:
Ability to manipulate objects/equipment and lift/carry items such as full garbage bags, cleaning supplies, trash cans, and vacuum cleaners. Position requires extensive standing and walking, stooping, and prolonged reaching above shoulders. Incumbents are subjected to various components, to include exposure to cleaning supplies, outdoor elements, human waste, and dust.
